Hello there Ann, and welcome to planDisney - your destination for some nautical knowledge ahead of your next voyage with Disney Cruise Line!
First off, I want to say how happy I am that you're taking the grandkids on
the Disney Wonder; she was my first Disney ship that I ever sailed on and has a special place in my heart. In fact, my first cruise was also sailing from California to the sunny skies and gorgeous beaches on Mexico's western coast!
Cabo San Lucas is one of those Ports of Call that draw you in with its natural beauty that seems to spring forth from the sea as you sail in.
Typically on cruises of similar lengths, you may have one or more evenings with
the option to wear the suggested attire. You can expect for there to be a
Pirate Night coinciding with a thrilling Deck Party featuring fantastic fireworks, which is a signature part of a Disney Cruise (with the exception of certain Northern itineraries in cooler climates which may have a
Frozen Deck Party instead).
Depending on your sailing, you may notice an optional "dress up" night on your
Personal Navigator; many guests choose to wear jackets, ties, dresses or any evening wear that makes them feel fine and fancy. The key thing to take note of is that as with any suggested attire, it is entirely optional - I love people-watching on these evenings where you can see ballgowns and board shorts side by side as guests mingle in the public spaces on board. In my personal experience, there's a greater chance that folks may dress up on the evening when the
Walt Disney Theatre presents
The Golden Mickeys. This could be your chance to arrive in style and walk the red carpet!
Some friends of mine who were on a recent sailing on the Disney Wonder experienced the suggested attire to be "Cruise Casual" for the entirety of their voyage, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared if taking the opportunity to dress up is something important to you and your family! Just be aware that themed nights can never be guaranteed and may be subject to change without prior notice; if you do find yourself with nicer outfits packed you can still take advantage of taking the family for a nice
professional session at Shutters Portrait Studio!
