My husband and I are taking our almost 2 year-old to Disney this fall and are deciding between Bay Lake Tower and the Wilderness Lodge. We are worried about the travel time to the MK and Epcot from the WL, but like its amenities (and price!). Suggestions?

    Hi Tracy,

You will be relieved to know that Disney's Wilderness Lodge is much closer to the Magic Kingdom than it appears on most maps.  I stay there as often as possible.  (Regular Moms Panel readers already know that this is my favorite resort IN THE WHOLE WORLD because of its architecture, theming, and overall fun factor).  I timed it and it literally took four minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom using the complimentary Disney bus that departs from the front of the Wilderness Lodge. The boat that takes you to the Magic Kingdom from the back of this resort is more fun, but it takes a few minutes longer.   Believe it or not, it actually takes longer to get to the Magic Kingdom from Bay Lake Tower if you take the monorail than it takes to arrive there from the Wilderness Lodge using the bus.

Getting to Epcot is also very simple.  Take the boat from the back of the Wilderness Lodge to Disney's Contemporary Resort.  Hop on the monorail on the fourth floor there.  Transfer to the Epcot-bound monorail at the next stop.  You'll be at Epcot in no time!  Again, taking a bus from the Wilderness Lodge to Epcot is probably a bit quicker, but in my opinion, riding the monorail is much more fun.  You can ride a bus anywhere in the world, but riding the monorail is a classic Disney experience.

So, if Disney's Wilderness Lodge is calling you, don't hesitate to book there!  It is the most reasonably priced deluxe resort in the Magic Kingdom area of Walt Disney World.  I guarantee you will be charmed by this place of unparalleled wonder and magic.

    Have fun planning!
