Hello! My husband and I are staying at Grand Floridian with points in Feb 2023 for my first-ever runDisney event! We are not getting park tickets, except for maybe one day. What are your favorite activities to do for a resort-only stay in February? Thanks!

    Hiya Kristin,

Welcome back to planDisney! I see you already spoke to our resident runDisney expert, Cindy, but I'm happy to be answering your question about your upcoming race weekend. My very first runDisney race was also Disney Princess Half Marathon! I'm definitely not a runner but running through Cinderella Castle made up for it.

One thing is for sure; resort days are perfect during runDisney race weekends. My favorite activities when I'm spending the day at a resort are:

-Pool days (it's still lovely in February).
-The unique recreational activities at each Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel.

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is perfect for all three activities. My ideal day would consist of spending the morning in one of the cabanas, lunch at Grand Floridian Café (the Buttermilk-fried Chicken and Waffle is fantastic), and then wrapping up the evening with either roasting smores by the Campfires or Movies Under the Stars. Who am I kidding? I'd also definitely head to Disney Springs to shop at some point. I'm not sure what recreational activities will be available during your visit, but once you arrive, the Cast Member at check-in can provide you with the schedule.

No matter what is on the schedule, it will surely be extra magical. I hope you enjoy your race weekend, and it sparks the beginning of many more runDisney races.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.

When we are not piloting the Millennium Falcon, exploring Kilimanjaro Safaris, or watching fireworks, you can find me planning our next adventure to Walt Disney World! I am so excited that you are planning a trip, and I look forward to helping you dig a little deeper and find the magic in all of the wonders of Walt Disney World Resort. Learn More About Ashley
