My husband, our son (1yo), my parents-their 1st trip-and I are coming in Oct. Staying at CBR. Want to go somewhere neat for dinner the 1st night but only use 1 TS credit on our DP. Thinking Cape May Cafe or GF Cafe. Want to start it off great! Any ideas?

    Hi friend in Pennsylvania!

First, you’ll just love the new pirate pool play area for your son at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Ahoy!

Our first night tradition is to visit Chef Mickey’s. It’s easy to travel to by taking the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then walking over to the Contemporary Resort. Dinner is festive. It also gives everyone a chance to say hello to Mickey. There are yummy parmesan mashed potatoes on the buffet. And after dinner, we look in the stores and then take a ride on the monorail. When we have our own car, it’s also convenient to park at the hotel for dinner.

I will caution that the day of arrival can be tiring. Traveling always tires us out more than we anticipate, especially when there are unexpected airline delays. Last June, we missed our Chef Mickey’s dinner due to our first flight being cancelled.

The Grand Floridian Café is a nice relaxing restaurant. Afterwards, I would recommend watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the boat dock.

The Cape May Café has a seafood buffet. This location is a bit more difficult to get to as you would need to transfer buses at one of the parks or walk from the Hollywood Studios. While the walk is serene, your family may be too exhausted from traveling to truly enjoy it. This area is very pretty at night. Take a walk over to the Boardwalk Resort!

Other 1 table service credit restaurants to consider:
The Wave, Whispering Canyon Café (casual and fun), Boma (after dinner check out the overlooks at the Animal Kingdom Lodge to see giraffes and other animals), Kona Café (after dinner watch fireworks from the Polynesian’s beach) and Cinderella’s dinner at 1900 Park Fare.

Your first night at WDW will be filled with wonder and magic!
