Sara,
I feel your pain. I too have been stranded while my friends headed off to
Savi's Workshop to build their Lightsabers. But do not worry, there is plenty to do in
Disney's Hollywood Studios while they craft away.
Let's tackle some options, based on different interests and activities.
Food: Ah, yes, food. My favorite escape in the parks. I have a few local favorites if you are hungry, including heading over to the nearby Toy Story land to
Woody's Lunch Box for the most amazing grilled cheese sandwich ever. Another option is to go to the
BaseLine Tap House to enjoy an adult beverage and some small plate nibbles. I love to nosh on the charcuterie plate or a pretzel with beer-cheese fondue. The outdoor seating is lovely and combines for some great people watching as well.
Fashion: I try to keep my Disney-themed wardrobe under control, and prefer the items that have a more subtle play on the characters. I have found that the stores along Sunset & Hollywood Boulevards offer items that I can wear in to work without looking like a billboard for my last vacation.
Fascination:
Walt Disney Presents is a really great walk through gallery that displays different interesting items from the history of Walt Disney. It may sound like a boring museum, but the artifacts and the stories behind them are truly engaging. At the end there is a 15-minute documentary film where you can learn about his life, but you can also bypass that if you wish.
Fun: Consider joining the
Individual Lighting Lane for
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway. It may sound like a ride just for little kids, but it is a fun, fast-paced thrill for all.
BONUS TIPWhen your husband and son are done, tell them that you had your
midichlorian levels checked, and that they were considered very high. This kind of Star Wars-speak might impress them and make them regret not taking you along for the crafting fun!
Have a Magical Vacation!
