My husband was in a serious car accident that has left him with back and knee pain. I am concern about him standing for long periods of time while we are at the parks. Is there anything can be done to help him avoid standing in long lines?

    Hi, Jessica!

    Not to worry!

We've traveled to Walt Disney World on several occasions with family members who have had back, knee and other surgeries which require them to avoid standing for long periods of time. Simply ask your husband's doctor for a note which details the accommodations he'll need (as opposed to the physical limitations which cause them.)

Once at a WDW park, simply head to Guest Relations (always located right near the park entrance) and present your doctor's note to a Cast Member there. You'll be given a Guest Assistance Card which will enable the card bearer plus additional Guests in your party (we were allowed 1 card bearer + 5 family members) to access accommodations wherever they are available. I've also helped several students obtain such cards when traveling to WDW on my school's Senior Class Trip. Same situation, every time.

Without these cards, many Guests would not be able to enjoy the parks with their families and friends at all; with one, however, your family will be able to stay together. Isn't that what's most important in a family vacation after all?

    Enjoy your trip, Jessica!
