Hi Suzi!
I think it's so sweet that you will be visiting Walt Disney World Resort with your husband for the first time! Be sure to pick up 'First Visit' buttons from any theme park Guest Relations location so Cast Members can help make your trip extra special.
If you need a bit of help to around the theme parks themselves, I recommend that you consider an
Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV). We rented one for my grandpa when he visited for my wedding and it was the perfect way to ensure he didn't miss out on the vacation fun because his legs were tired! You can rent ECVs from the Walt Disney World Resort theme parks or from one of the Disney featured providers for a daily fee. Cast Members cannot provide assistance into or out of an attraction vehicle, but they can move an ECV or wheelchair to the attraction exit so it is available for you when you exit. I recommend that you check out the
Mobility Services page for information on the mobility requirements for each attraction.
You have a few options for
parking during your trip. If you have a valid disability parking permit, you can park in the disability parking lots in each theme park. Otherwise, you can ask the parking attendant to park at the end of the row to minimize your walk to catch the tram, which will take you to the theme park entrance.
If you have additional questions about the specific types of assistance you and your husband may need during your vacation, you can contact Disability Services at (407) 560-2547 or email disability.services@disneyparks.com. And of course, come back to see us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel! T-T-F-N, ta ta for now!
