My husband and I are returning to Disney for the 15th time. We will be celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We spent our Honeymoon at Disney World in June 1975 at the Contemporary. Please advise how we can make this visit an event to remember. Becky

    Hiya Becky,

Welcome to planDisney! Wow, 50 years! What a fantastic thing to celebrate (did you know that Space Mountain is also celebrating 50 years this year?)! My Prince Charming and I are only celebrating 12 years together this year, but we have spent many anniversaries commemorating the occasion at Walt Disney World. I think there is no place better to celebrate the magic of love than at the Most Magical Place on Earth.

So I have quite a few recommendations for your celebration, so let me get right to it. For me, you can’t go wrong with something from the Enchanting Extras Collection or a good meal, so allow me to share some of my favorites! One way to make the day special could be with a special photoshoot at your favorite park. Each theme park offers an experience called Capture Your Moment, a dedicated 20-minute photo session with a PhotoPass photographer. They help find the perfect shots for you, and you don’t have to worry about trying to time the photos yourself. I had this experience to celebrate my pregnancy three years ago, and the photos were incredible! I love looking back at them and remembering such a special moment in time. Speaking of looking back on a moment in time, since you celebrated your honeymoon at the Contemporary, why not take it back there for your celebration? A dinner at Steakhouse 71 or California Grill would be a perfect ending to a magical day, in my opinion. Steakhouse 71 is delicious, but between the two, I might lean a little more towards California Grill for the romantic vibes. The food is incredible, and as a Guest for dinner, you get to enjoy a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks show from the special observation deck (they pipe the music in). Another dining option that is befitting a 50th-anniversary celebration is Victoria and Albert’s. I got to dine there for my birthday last year and am still raving about that incredible multi-course meal.

Going back to fireworks, though, I did want to share one other special experience from the Enchanting Extras Collection with you. Happily Ever After fireworks is my favorite nighttime spectacular. I actually remember holding my Prince Charming’s hand in the pouring rain, watching the show for an anniversary in 2019. While standing on Main Street, U.S.A., packed super close to other Guests, is not that romantic. Enjoying the show with a dessert party is. I highly recommend Sweets and Seats as an option to enhance your celebration. Enjoy yummy all-you care to enjoy desserts and watch Tinker Bell soar above your head at a table for two! You can also do a fireworks cruise if that is more your speed!

I hope this was a good start to get you going, Becky. Please come back and see me if I can help provide any other ideas for your anniversary. Don’t forget to stop by Guest Relations when you arrive to pick up a Celebration Button for your anniversary. It will be a great complimentary memento of your occasion, and it will allow Cast Members to recognize you are celebrating a special moment and join in on the celebration.

    Happy Planning,
