My Husband will be returning from Afghanistan & we will be making a Disney trip. How can I submit him as a special guest for the flag Retreat @ Magic Kingdom?

    Hi Cary,

Thank you so much to your husband for his service. We've spent our post-deployment time at Walt Disney World and it was one of the best experiences we've had as a family. It's so nice to be able to reconnect and just have fun without the worries of home and work.

There are a couple of ways guests are selected to participate in the Flag Retreat Ceremony at Magic Kingdom Park, and it varies daily on how the guests are chosen. On some days, a Cast Member will look for a family wearing military apparel (think hats/shirts with you husband's branch on them) at the turnstiles prior to park opening. They'll approach the family and ask them if they'd like the participate. Other times, guests are able to request to participate by visiting the Guest Relations Office inside City Hall once they enter the park.

My suggestion is to arrive at the turnstiles well before park opening and ask a Cast Member if they have selected a guest for the day's Flag Retreat. I'd also head directly to City Hall when the park opens to inquire with the Cast Members there.

I have my fingers crossed for your husband to participate in the ceremony. It's a truly wonderful event, and, as a military wife, it's one that will always hold a special place in my heart.  Please let me know if you have any other questions, Cary.

    Have a magical day,
    Ashley
