Hi Melissa,
Welcome to the Moms Panel! I want you to know how much I appreciate your husband's service to our country & you supporting your husband while he serves. I am so happy you're surprising your son with a trip to Disney World when your husband returns. So let's get you ready to make some memories.
I was at the Magic Kingdom (MK) earlier this month & they were still holding the Flag Retreat Ceremony in Town Square. Its held daily around 5 p.m. If you'd like your husband to participate, I'd recommend getting there as soon as the park opens & head to Guest Relations to ask if there is availability that day for him to participate.
In addition to all the fun in the parks, here are some other suggestions for father/son bonding time & that you'd enjoy as well:
* The Pirates League at MK - both can be transformed into pirates
* The Pirates & Pals Fireworks Voyage
* Your son will love the Jedi Training Academy at Disney's Hollywood Studios & you'll both love watching him battle Darth Vader face-to-face
* Book breakfast or dinner at Chef Mickey's
* Mickey's Backyard BBQ
* Visit Ridemakerz at Downtown Disney to build a car together
* Some resorts offer catch & release fishing
* Take a wagon ride at Ft. Wilderness
* Chip and Dales Campfire Sing-a-Long at Disney's Fort Wilderness
* Play a round of miniature golf at one of the two cool courses
I am not sure what time of year you're visiting but there are lots of fun special events occurring between now & the end of the year - click
here.
I am limited in space but please feel free to visit again if you need any specific details about any of these suggestions. Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
