Hiya, Joshua! I am so sorry to hear about your husband's injury. I hope he is able to rest and recover as quickly as possible.
With the
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend on the calendar, the ACL tear has to feel like a double pang to the heart. Unfortunately, race registrations are not transferable. For most people trying so hard to get a bib for these extremely popular
runDisney events, it is a helpful policy that keeps resellers at bay. When something happens that prevents someone from being able to run, it does become a barrier to giving the bib to another athlete.
My best advice is to
contact runDisney directly. I have worked with the runDisney Cast Members and found them incredibly helpful. They will let you know if anything can be done.
I'm trying not to read too much into your question, but does the phrasing "he might not be able to run" leave open the possibility, perhaps? If it's helpful to know, the pace requirement for the
Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon is an average 16:00 minute mile. Depending on his health and the advice of his doctors, knowing he will not have to sprint 13.1 miles may make the race feasible. If he can participate, I would encourage him to get to the start as early as possible and try to get to the front of his corral. The earlier he can get started, the more buffer he will have before the "balloon ladies" catch up to warn him the sweepers are close.
I sincerely wish him the best in his recovery and hope he is quickly back in his running shoes. If this year is not in the cards, watch the runDisney Facebook and Instagram sites. runDisney just completed registration for its last race of the 2024-2025 season. Hopefully, this means the registration dates for next year's Wine & Dine will be announced soon.
As you begin planning a trip to
Walt Disney World Resort to enjoy the Most Magical Place on Earth and the most magical place to race, please dash back by
planDisney. We're rooting for you!
Cheers to a speedy recovery!
