My husband recently returned from his third tour in the desert.I noticed a posting about the flag retreat ceremony. He was so excited he wanted to pack his uniform! His question was if he could keep the flag or trade it for one he brought home from Iraq??

Sending huge respect and thanks to your husband for his selfless duty to our country!

The flag retreat ceremony is very special for our veterans.  About six years ago I arranged for my dad to participate as he was a veteran of WWII.  It was one of the most moving experiences for him and I will forever have that memory with me even though I no longer have my father.

He was not allowed to keep the flag and I was not able to get any answer to this part of the question when I called.  I think it is worth your time to write a note to Guest Relations to ask them personally if this could be done.  I myself think this would be awesome to trade for a flag that was flying over our troops in Iraq.  Send a note to wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com and explain what you would like to do.

Be sure and head to the park's Guest Relations desk the first thing you do when you arrive (preferably when the park opens) and ask to do this great honor.  It is a first come opportunity.  Make sure you get photos!
