My husband Randy and I are taking our 6 month old daughter to Au'lani in July. We are worried about the flight over. What can we do to keep a 6 month old comfortable and happy on an 8 hr. flight?

    Hi there, Donna!

First off, congratulations on planning an exciting trip to Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa in Ko Olina, Hawai'i! Having traveled with infants myself, I can certainly appreciate your question.  As we both know, the needs of babies can be unpredictable. Sometimes you have a carefree flight, and other times it can be more of a challenge.  I will pass along some tips that have worked for me in the past.  Before departure, try to time your baby's feedings so that she is hungry around the time your flight is scheduled to depart. Oftentimes I found that feeding baby at take-off made them sleepy soon afterwards.  Once baby wakes, have lots of active playtime.  Exercise her legs, arms, etc.  Bring new colorful toys for sensory stimulation.  I discovered that after lots of active playtime and stimulation, it was time for another feeding.  Another feeding means more sleep.  Whatever the case, think of your amazing destination.  Be prepared to sooth and entertain your daughter on your journey.  Only you know what satisfies her.  I am certain things will go well, and that you will have an amazing time on your special trip to Aulani!

Mahalo for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Donna.

I wish you a truly magical vacation!
