Hello, my husband and I are planning a trip with our 5 year old grandson this summer. What resort do you recommend staying at? We will probably stay 3-4 nights at the most. What hotel is closest to Magic Kingdom?

    Hi Charlotte,

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question! How wonderful to be bringing your grandson to Walt Disney World at such a magical age for little ones.

Since you are looking for a hotel close to Magic Kingdom, I think that your best bet is Disney's Contemporary Resort. The resort is amazing to look at and offers many recreational activities, including a marina. Disney's Contemporary Resort is the only resort from which you can walk to Magic Kingdom! The walk takes about 10 minutes. I love to wake up at this resort and walk right to Magic Kingdom first thing in the morning! You can also get to Magic Kingdom from Disney's Contemporary Resort by boat or by monorail.

Another good option for you would be Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. This resort has a lush, tropical theme, as well as great dining options. This resort also has a marina. To access Magic Kingdom from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, you can take a boat or the monorail.

Both of these resorts are lovely. You might choose based on theme. If your number one priority is getting to and from Magic Kingdom, I would suggest Disney's Contemporary Resort for the ability to walk. For a side-by-side comparison of these resorts and other Walt Disney World resorts, check out this Walt Disney World resort hotel comparison tool.

Please do let us know if you have any further questions, Charlotte!
