My husband and I are planning a surprise trip for my 12 & 15 year old the first week of August. We're really considering the Carribean beach resort but the Dolphin/Swan resort look beautiful...any suggestions? Thanks! Mary-Kate

Oh my goodness, what a thrilling surprise for your children, Mary-Kate!  As far as your planning, I can tell you that you're off to a great start because the resorts you mention are fabulous choices, though with very different feels to them.  The Caribbean Beach Resort offers a very laid back feel.  It's vibrant colors and steel drum music will make you think you've stepped right onto a lazy island paradise.  The Dolphin and Swan offer a more sophisticated ambiance, though still plenty casual.  One perk of a stay at either of these two resorts is that both are within close and convenient walking distance of the Boardwalk area as well as Epcot, whereas The Caribbean Beach isn't within walking distance to any of the theme parks.

While I have stayed at The Caribbean Beach and I wouldn't hesitate to do so again, I, personally, would recommend either the Swan or Dolphin for your stay.  My reason being that I think your teen/tween children would especially appreciate the entertainment options available at the Boardwalk.  Of course, if you don't plan on renting a car, you'll have to consider airport transportation because Swan and Dolphin guests are not eligible for Disney's Magical Express service.  In that case, it looks like the decision just got a whole lot easier, right?  Good luck with whatever you decide and do follow-up with me if I can be of more assistance!
