My husband and I are planning a secret Disney trip for us and our 3 kids ages 7, 5 & 4, what is the nicest/cheapest hotel on Disney to stay, this is our first time and do not plan on spending much time in the hotel.

    Wanda:

Because there are five of you, the "cheapest" accommodations you qualify for will also give you the most value in my opinion...

Disney's Port Orleans: Riverside resort offers sleeping accommodations for five because of its trundle bed.  (Rooms at the less-expensive Value Hotels only sleep four.)  Now keep in mind some of the trundles are nothing more than a thick kindergarten mattress on a pull out metal slab, but your children are the perfect ages to enjoy the fun that the trundle brings to making "sleeping on the floor" a memorable experience.

I feel the resort's shining advantage is its boat to Downtown Disney, another memory-maker for your children and equal to any ride they'll experience in the theme parks except for Expedition Everest or Soarin'.  Couple it with dinner at T-Rex or my kids' favorite when they were that age: Rainforest Cafe, and you'll hit a homerun.

While you won't be spending a lot of time in your room, I truly feel that even the time you spend walking from the bus stop to your room through well-themed paths among the lush landscaping at Port Orleans keeps you in the Disney-moment.  Compared to the value resorts, the larger square footage in its room, the privacy curtain in the vanity area on down to the pool are just an example of how small things lend more value at Port Orleans.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
