Hi Takiesha,
I am excited to help you start planning your magical vacation!
Since you are a family of six, I understand that you would like more space. One good possibility for you would be a family suite at
Disney's Art of Animation Resort. This resort is fun and whimsical. A family suite here sleeps six guests and includes two bathrooms and separate living and dining areas. Another possibility for you is a
cabin at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. This resort is offers a great campground experience. A cabin here will also sleep up to six guests, and includes a full kitchen and a grill outside, so you have the opportunity to save some money by doing some of your own cooking.
As for the best time of year to go, since you said early in 2017, I am going to concentrate on January, February and March. If you are able to avoid days when children are typically out of school, such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Presidents' Day weekends, that will help to minimize crowds as people tend to travel when children are out of school. March will likely be a little more crowded as Spring Breaks tend to begin that month. As for rain, there is always the possibility of rain in Florida, but it is on average less rainy in January and February than March. You should know that Walt Disney World does adjust the operating hours of their theme parks, and they tend to have shorter operating hours at times when there are lower crowds, such as January and February; however, I do not think you should worry about that too much as there are still ample hours to enjoy the magic given lower crowds.
I would love to help you plan more Takiesha; however, I am limited in the amount of space that I have to answer. Please do write back with any further questions!
