My husband and I are planning our first trip to Disney with our 2 children ages 6 and 8 next summer. Any recommendations on what resort to stay in? Which resorts are fairly easy acces to the parks? Thank you

Hi Christine! Two locations come to mind when wanting to be close to parks during your Disney vacation. The resort section near the Magic Kingdom comprises of four great resorts: Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian, and Wilderness Lodge. Since you will be going in the summer I suggest a nice tropical themed resort such as the Polynesian. They have a fun pool and a beautiful beach. You can't swim but the kids can certainly enjoy the sand while you relax in one of the many hammocks! You can reach Magic Kingdom park via boat or monorail and to reach the Epcot park you can hop on that specific monorail next door at the Transportation and Ticket Center.

The other area that is great is the Epcot park resort area and there you will find the Boardwalk, Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts. My family loves this area as it is a simple five minute walk to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot and a fifteen minute boat ride to Hollywood Studios. You can also walk along the water to this resort if you choose but it is about a mile walk.

From any of these resorts you can get a Disney bus to the other parks and it is very convenient. It just becomes a matter of what parks you feel you will be spending the most time at and then decide from there. You can't go wrong with any of those I mentioned and if your budget doesn't include one of these Deluxe choices you can find great moderate or value resorts on property. You might not be able to walk to the parks from them but they will all offer the bus service.
