Planning a first
Disney Cruise is very exciting, but it can be hard to select which ship to choose! Each ship has something unique to offer, and everyone has their favorites. Just remember that whichever ship you choose, you will be treated like royalty from your first grand welcome onboard until your final farewell breakfast on debarkation day. Every ship offers
rotational dining, broadway style entertainment, and wonderful
adult only areas of the ship for you and your husband to enjoy.
When deciding between ships, the first thing I would do is make sure the itinerary, port location, and dates work for you. Often times, this will limit your options. But let's assume both ships are viable options with your schedule and compare these two beauties!
The
Disney Wish is a newer ship, with a stunning Grand Foyer as you enter. A highlight of this ship is the attention to detail for the adult only areas. The Rainforest Room in the
Senses Spa & Salon is truly amazing. With both indoor and outdoor retreat spaces, this is the ultimate in relaxation. (There is an extra charge to purchase a Rainforest Room Pass.) You will also find a wonderful pool exclusive to adults at the Quiet Cove on Deck 13. This infinity pool is everything you dream of when cruising with a nearby bar for tropical beverages, plenty of plush towels, and a million-dollar view as you relax in the pool. When it comes to dining, I think the Wish has amazing options, including Mickey's Smokestack BBQ - one of my favorites for a quick bite to eat!
The
Disney Fantasy is a classic ship with a fabulous layout. I find this to be a very easy ship to get around, and I love lounging at Satellite Falls, an adult only lounging area on Deck 13. It is a wonderful spot to relax, read a book, and enjoy the sunshine. The three main dining rooms have traditional Disney Cruise Line menus with some of my favorites. Animator's Palate has the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes which is simply one the best appetizers ever!
Personally, I am a fan of the Disney Fantasy. I love the classic design, ease of getting around the decks, and the tradition onboard. I prefer the main dining options, and I like the size of the ship.
So, which should you pick? If you are looking for the traditional charm of a Disney Cruise, then the Disney Fantasy will be the winner. If you prefer an updated ship with a bit more pizazz, then book the Disney Wish. Either way, you will find endless magic and outstanding service. The great news is that you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. And, while onboard, book a
