My husband and i are planning a Disney vacation we have been many time with our children and grandchildren. We will be attending alone this time. We are 60 years old now. What is the best resort for us?

    Welcome to planDisney, Tonyia!

It's an honor to help a couple of Walt Disney World veterans plan their great, big, beautiful tomorrow.

In some ways, any Disney Resorts Collection hotel would be a great experience for you both. Each one has its own charm and appeal. However, like everyone, I do have my favorites. For a couple in their 60s who are hoping to enjoy a magical time together, I can think of a few that really stand out. Here are my top recommendations:

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
At the top of my list, this is probably not a surprise. The design of this resort is elegant and classy. The grounds are beautiful and the pools are wonderful. The views you can enjoy across Seven Seas Lagoon are majestic and you can even see Happily Ever After from certain spots. The dining options here are second to none (I would personally recommend making a dining reservation for the recently refurbished Narcoosees) and the lobby is awe-inspiring. I love being able to walk to Magic Kingdom Park and also use the Monorail or boat. The rooms have recently been refurbished at this resort and, from what I hear, they're pretty amazing.

    Disney's Yacht Club Resort
This hotel is located a short stroll from EPCOT and offers a New England charm with a healthy sprinkle of nautical touches. Whether you're sipping your morning coffee as you gaze at Crescent Lake or enjoying an evening cocktail at the Ale & Compass Lounge, you'll get a taste of Disney heaven. This hotel also has convenient access to Disney Skyliner and Disney's BoardWalk. There are so many wonderful food options available too (I recommend Yachtsman Steakhouse). The main pool area, Stormalong Bay, is probably the best pool on property.

    Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
My final recommendation is especially good if you're not going to spend a lot of time at the theme parks. Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a bit out-of-the-way, however, this makes you feel like you've been transported to a whole new world. The majestic lobby, fascinating theming, amazing restaurants, luxurious comfort, and African wildlife all combine to make it one of my favorite hotels. When it comes to dining, the famous bread service at Sanaa is an experience not to be missed, and Jiko - The Cooking Place is one of the best restaurants on property. Here's a tip: Ask about the free culinary tours on offer. Again, the main pool is wonderful and very relaxing.

Those are my top three, Tonyia. However, it really comes down to what you are personally looking for in a vacation. Any of the Deluxe Resorts will be out-of-this-world fantastic. Even Moderate Resorts, like Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, or Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, would be wonderful choices too. You really can't go wrong.

So don't worry about "buyer's remorse" when choosing a Disney Resorts Collection hotel. I trust whatever hotel you pick will be "practically perfect in every way."

Thanks for stopping by planDisney, Tonyia. See ya real soon!
