My husband and I are planning our delayed honeymoon (yay for getting one 5 years later!) for January 2014. We will be there from January 2nd-7th. I noticed that the 2014 Disney Marathon starts January 8th. What does that mean for us as far as crowds?

Hi Adrienne! I totally understand the delayed honeymoon issue as my husband and I waited ten years before we had a chance to go on ours! I always said it was better late then never and I am sure you will have an awesome time at Walt Disney World!

The marathon is always a big event at Disney each year. It will draw in extra guests but the main emphasis is the race itself for these participants. Most will arrive a day or two early so I would suggest you really hit the parks and attractions early in your visit. As it gets closer you can then do some of the other fun things that might not involve attraction lines. This is a good time to take in a Fork and Screen movie at the Downtown Disney AMC theaters or perhaps a round of bowling at Splitsville just down the walkway. If you have some interest in golf or fishing plan these at the end of your week.

Make sure you get your dining reservations in place as soon as you hit the 180 day mark. I think you will find that this week will be a great week for a Disney vacation!
