    My husband and I are planning a Christmas surprise for our five children for a WDW trip for next summer and I wanted to know if we paid the deposit for the vacation can we order personalized magic bands to have for Christmas Presents for our children?

    Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! 

    The good news is that you can order personalized MagicBands with a confirmed stay at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel or with a vacation package that includes a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. Although we typically just personalize the complimentary MagicBands with our names, on our most recent visit, we ordered premium Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge MagicBands. In either case, the process is fairly straightforward and the MagicBands were shipped to our house a few weeks before our trip.

    I will say that the Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge premium MagicBands shipped earlier than the complimentary ones have shipped in the past. The premium ones shipped soon after I placed my order. You may order your MagicBands in My Disney Experience. I just completed a MagicBand order for complimentary MagicBands. On the confirmation page that popped up once I completed my order, there was a message that indicated that complimentary MagicBands ship to U.S. addresses approximately 30 days prior to arrival. Up until that point, I can still edit our MagicBand order. If you choose the complimentary MagicBands, whether or not those bands will arrive in time for Christmas will depend on the dates of your trip.

    With our Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge MagicBands, I ordered them on October 25, 2019 and they shipped on October 28, 2019. Our trip with those MagicBands was in late December. For another trip, I ordered a BB-8 MagicBand on November 8, 2019 and it shipped on November 14, 2019. The trip with that MagicBand was in mid-December. Keep in mind, that I paid an additional charge for these premium MagicBands, but it was nice to have them shipped a little earlier. I would allow at least two-three weeks for shipping to be sure that you receive them in time to create a happy surprise.

    Tatiana, I certainly understand the need to budget a Walt Disney World Resort Vacation, but I also sense that it may be more important to you to ensure that your MagicBands arrive at a certain time, so consider ordering a premium MagicBand. I would also suggest that, if you have not considered making advanced dining reservations, I definitely recommend that you do so since you have a larger family. We always make reservations for character meals with our favorite characters!
