My husband and I are planning to take our children who will be 1month shy of 5 and 2yrs old to disney world in july. I was considering to only bring one stroller for our 2 yr old and letting our almost 5yr old walk. Do you think this would work?

Hi, Kate!  This is a really tough question to answer without knowing your five year old. I will tell you that I am one lazy mommy, and if I can get away without having to bring my stroller, I am one happy camper.  My girls are theme parking walking veterans from the time they are around 2, although I try to always bring my stroller up until they really don't seem to need it anymore.

My youngest daughter will be four in April, and I am taking her next weekend for the first time without a stroller.  But I know, the last few times I've taken her, she hasn't wanted to sit in our stroller, so I am thinking we won't miss it.  I suggest you take your almost 5 year old on a few long walks, and see how he handles it.  Keep in mind that you will be doing a lot of walking at Walt Disney World, and the heat in July can be overwhelming.  It tends to tire you out fairly quickly.  If you have one stroller that would accommodate either one of the children, you could maybe go with just one and switch the kids out as your older child gets tired.  Or you could consider renting one of the double strollers at the theme parks if the need arises.

One thing that helped me with my middle daughter are the clip-on stroller fans.  You can find them at the Walt Disney World theme parks or from several online outlets.  I always have two of them, and I would turn one on facing the child in the stroller, and one on facing my middle daughter walking next to the stroller.  In the heat of the summer, this really helped keep her from complaining as much about the walking she was doing.

    Have a great time!
