My husband and I are planning on bringing my 3 children this fall, for a long weekend. All the resorts are for a family of 4 but my youngest is 3. How strictly is the "family of 4" requirement enforced?

    Hi Thuy!

I've visited Walt Disney World during every season of the year, and I have to say that the fall is my favorite time for a Disney vacation. The weather is amazing, Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival makes me hungry just thinking about it (even though I just ate dinner!), and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is an absolute blast.

Great question about the room capacities. You're right, many of the rooms in the Walt Disney World resort hotels have a maximum occupancy of 4 guests. The bad news is that the room types that are flagged with a maximum occupancy of 4 guests won't work out in your case even though your youngest child is only 3. (If your child was younger than 3, they would've worked unfortunately.)

However, the good news is that there are number of options available for families with 5 guests. I'll list a few:

Value Resorts: Disney's All-Star Music Resort and Disney's Art of Animation Resort have family suites that can accommodate up to 6 guests.

Moderate Resorts: Disney's Port Orleans Resort (Riverside) has rooms than can accommodate 5 guests and The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort can accommodate up to 6 guests.

Deluxe Resorts: Many of the resort hotels in the Deluxe category have rooms that can accommodate families of 5.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

The Disney Vacation Club properties might also be worth checking out (you don't have to be a member of the Disney Vacation Club to stay at them). Many of those properties have Deluxe Villas that are perfect for families your size; not only because of the number of guests they can accommodate, but also because of the kitchen facilities in each room.

I hope that helps! If you should have any further questions, please feel free to send them my way and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
