My husband and I, over 70, physically can't do some rides. We purchased Genie+ tickets for everyone -- If we make Lightening Lanes reservations, can we let our grandchildren ride again instead of us?

    Hello there, Pennie!

Welcome to planDisney! You don't sound like a sound like a Fairy Godmother! What fun to take your family to the Disneyland Resort with you. I'm so excited that I get to help you plan your visit!

Disney Genie+ is such a great way to reduce your wait for some of the most popular attractions by accessing Lightning Lanes. However, as a mom of a less-adventurous little one who often visits with my parents and extended family at the same time, I totally understand that not everyone in your party will want to experience all the attractions. Each Lightning Lane is linked to an individual ticket, and it cannot be sent to another ticket. So if you wanted to gift your Lightning Lane to one of your grandkids they would need to scan your ticket as they entered the queue. If you are using the Disneyland Mobile App you can link your tickets to multiple accounts, so grandkids using the app would be able to scan your ticket at the queue and access your Lightning Lane. Just make sure everyone is clear on who is using which one!

You can link tickets to multiple Disney accounts in the Disneyland Mobile App, which will help your party include everyone in their Lightning Lane reservations. Just follow these steps:

    • Tap the "☰" in the app to open the main menu
    • Select "Tickets and Passes"
    • Tap "Link Tickets & Passes"
    • Use your camera to scan a ticket, enter the ID Number for the ticket, or tap someone's MagicBand+ that is linked to their ticket
Now the person using the app will see the ticket and have the option to include that person in their Lightning Lane party. You can also link tickets to your Disneyland account on the website by clicking "My Disneyland" at the top right, then selecting "Link Tickets" and entering the ID Number on your tickets.

Besides scanning your tickets in the Disneyland Mobile App you can also access Lighting Lanes using a MagicBand+ which makes things quick and easy, especially for kids! Our family loves using these on our big group visits because if our kids decide to hang out with their grandparents or aunts and uncles without us for a bit they can still use their MagicBand+ to enter Lightning Lanes or even enter the parks.

Since you mentioned kids...did you know that Mickey's Toontown has been reimagined and is more delightful than ever? I definitely recommend taking the time to visit Mickey's House together so that you can say "Hiya Pal!" and get a great group photo to remember your visit.

I hope that all makes sense, Pennie! Extended family visits are one of my specialties, so if you have more questions feel free to send me a message and I'll get right back to you. Enjoy making wishes come true for your lucky family!

    Keep moving forward!
