Hi Andrea! Thanks for dropping by planDisney.
I have visited the parks on several occasions with a close family member, who is also a veteran and disabled. It was one of the places my uncle felt most comfortable vacationing due to Disney's dedication to accessibility and accommodation. I know you're going to have the best time!
There are several
resources you might find useful prior to your arrival, including guides for Guests with disabilities. One such resource is the Attraction Details for Guests with Cognitive Difficulties. This guide details information about Attractions that can be helpful for veterans, including which Attractions feature "Loud Noises."
Once you get to the parks, you can visit City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, the Chamber of Commerce on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park, or a Guest Information Center to register for
Disability Access Service. DAS is a service for Guests who have trouble tolerating waits in a traditional queue. Guests registered with DAS book a return time for Attractions comparable to the current standby wait time. While you're waiting for that return time, you can enjoy other aspects of the park, such as Entertainment, your favorite snack, or people-watching from a shady spot on a bench. When requesting DAS, your husband must be present to determine if he's eligible.
I've recently visited the parks with a friend using DAS, and I can assure you that booking return times on your mobile device is user-friendly. But a Cast Member will be happy to walk you through the process if your husband is eligible. Additionally, you can always speak with a friendly Cast Member before you arrive if you have further concerns. Simply call
Disability Services. Someone will be happy to assist!
Have a magical time!
Elizabeth
