My husband has Parkinson’s and uses walking sticks can he bring them into both parks?

Hey there, Donald! Welcome to planDisney! Oh boy! It sounds like your magical visit to the Disneyland Resort is just around the corner—your trip is just under the two-month mark now! Let the official countdown begin!

I love that you’re planning ahead to ensure everything is smooth sailing for your visit. After all, "plan" is in our very name here at planDisney, and I'm so glad you reached out—we're so happy to help!

It's wonderful that you're thinking about your husband's comfort and accessibility. Please rest assured, the Disneyland Resort is deeply committed to making every Guest's experience magical and memorable, and that absolutely includes providing a welcoming environment for those who use mobility devices.

Regarding your husband's walking sticks, you'll be pleased to hear that Guests are generally welcome to use their own mobility aids, and this typically includes walking sticks or poles used for assistance. I've often seen Guests comfortably using crutches or similar supports in the parks, so standard walking sticks for mobility should fit right in and not pose a problem.

When you pass through the security checkpoints and park entrances, the friendly Cast Members will, of course, have the final say. However, I genuinely don't foresee any issues if the walking sticks are clearly standard assistive devices and don't extend in a way that could create a hazard for other Guests. For quick reference, here’s a list of items that are prohibited at the Disneyland Resort. The main goal is everyone's safety and enjoyment!

Speaking of enjoyment, as you venture onto attractions, a Cast Member at the loading area of a queue might kindly ask if your husband is comfortable walking a few steps on his own without his mobility devices, or if he might need a little extra assistance boarding. Please don't hesitate to let them know if you or your husband have any concerns at all—they're there to help make your experience safe, comfortable, and of course, delightfully fun!

Donald, if you have any questions once you arrive, or if you feel your husband might benefit from additional accommodations, I highly recommend stopping by the Accessibility Services kiosk located in the Main Entrance Esplanade. The Cast Members there are incredibly knowledgeable and can discuss any specific needs to help ensure you both have an absolutely awesome time.

To further help you prepare to maximize the magic, I'd also encourage you to take a peek at the Disneyland Resort's accessibility page before your visit. It’s a wonderful resource filled with helpful details! On that page, you'll find information about services such as ECV rentals and learn more about the various ways Guests can access attraction queues. Being informed about these resources beforehand can truly help you make the most of every magical moment during your visit!

I'm sending you both the biggest wishes for a truly enchanting time at the Happiest Place on Earth! If any other questions pop up as you plan, you know where to find us!
