My husband and I would like to have one "adult" night out while we are at WDW in May 2012. Which would be better to visit - Downtown Disney or Disney's Boardwalk for a fun night out without our kids who will be having fun back at the resort?

    Hi there, Patricia!

Great, great idea: the children will have a (supervised) blast at the Resort, while you and your husband take advantage of the time for a fun date! As to your destination? It all depends on what you are looking for.

Both the BoardWalk and Downtown Disney are fun nightlife districts, full of dining and shopping options. And both have live street entertainment, a fun atmosphere, and Disney excitement.

The BoardWalk recaptures the feeling of an Atlantic coast promenade in the early twentieth century. You'' find buskers, caricature artists, and midway games here, as well as significantly more grown-up offerings, among them Atlantic Dance Hall (an over-21 nightclub featuring live DJs, video walls, and top-40 music), and Jellyrolls, an over-21 dueling piano bar.

Downtown Disney has a bit more of an edge to it, and is more along the lines of a sophisticated nighttime party destination. Here, too, you'll find shopping and dining, but there is also the lure of state-of-the-art indoor arcade DisneyQuest, the mind-blowing spectacle of Cirque du Soleil, and much more. Or go really "date-y," and take in a movie at the new Fork & Screen concept at the AMC theaters. How about a romantic sunset hot air balloon ride? You can do that, too (weather permitting!).

You'll just need to take a few moments to determine which is more your style: the relaxed, cheerful nature of the BoardWalk, or the funkier flavor of Downtown Disney.

Either way, you will have a fabulous time.

    Enjoy your well-deserved night out!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
