Hey, Labronya!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. The unexpected is unexpected and Disney understands these issues. I am so glad you asked this question.
Yes, if your husband (sadly) must miss the trip you may add a Guest in his place. Simple contact Disney reservations at 407-939-1936 and discuss the issue with them. If you used a travel agent or third party vendor like Expedia, you will need to go through them.
MagicBands will be mailed to you about 30 days prior to your trip and will be programmed and linked to the current members of the reservation. If you replace a person on the reservation and it is 10 days or more from your trip you should be able to customize a new MagicBand for the replacement Guest through
My Disney Experience. If it is within 10 of your arrival date then the Guest will likely get a standard grey band upon Resort hotel check-in.
Disney Dad Tip: Most importantly the lead Guest (the one making all the reservations) cannot be the person who may miss the trip. Any Guests who potentially will not be able to make it should be secondary on the reservation. If the Lead Guest has to cancel then the entire reservation gets cancelled and must be rebooked. The fees could be higher and the room unavailable.
Enjoy making many Magical Memories, Labronya!
