My husband will not be able to use stairs or bleachers on this trip due to a knee injury. What is the appropriate protocol for asking to use an alternate entrance or exit?

Welcome to planDisney, Terri! Thanks so much for coming to us with your questions today. I'm so glad you asked this ahead of time! The good news is that Walt Disney World is designed with accessibility in mind, and everyone does a great job making sure that every guest can have a magical and comfortable experience, including those who may need to avoid stairs or bleacher-style seating.

For the most part, you won't need to use an alternate entrance or exit. Attraction queues are wheelchair-accessible or have been modified to be accessible to guests with mobility concerns, so your husband should be able to enjoy most attractions right through the main queue alongside the rest of your party.

That said, there are a few attractions where stairs are involved, particularly at the exits. For example, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind exits upstairs and has an elevator for guests who can't use stairs. In those cases, a friendly Cast Member at the attraction will be more than happy to help. Just let them know your husband has a mobility restriction and needs to avoid stairs. They'll let you know the best way to proceed and guide you to an alternate route if needed. The same goes for shows that have bleacher or stadium-style steps. Cast Members are always available to direct you to accessible seating areas, often located at the entrance level of the venue.

The key takeaway: just ask a Cast Member! They'll be happy to make sure your husband is comfortable and well taken care of.

    Have a magical day, Terri!
