My husband and I get 1 night to celebrate my birthday w/o kids. We were thinking of going to the California Grill but can't get a table until 9:20, and fireworks (Jan 23) are scheduled at 8:00? Can we go early to view? Other suggestions of restaurants?

    Hi there Mindi,

I have celebrated many a birthday at Walt Disney World and California Grill is among my favorite locales for a romantic dinner just for two!  You really can't beat the sights, as this Signature Dining venue is perched high atop the Contemporary Resort boasting the most incredible views of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle!  Oh, I almost forgot to mention the food... AMAZING to say the least!  Even though your reservation is not until after the fireworks, I am pleased to report that as a confirmed guest of California Grill, you will be permitted to access the lounge area and outdoor observation decks in time for the bursts to light up the skies over the Magic Kingdom!  Just be sure to check in on the second floor where you will be escorted straight to "the top" via the exclusive California Grill guest elevator!

If you would prefer to view the fireworks while dining, I highly recommend Narcoossee's as a fabulous backup!  Narcoossee's is a fine seafood restaurant located at the Grand Floridian and nestled upon Disney's picturesque Seven Seas Lagoon.  This Signature locale offers one of the most incredible sights in the land with a direct  view of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella Castle!  You can certainly request a window seat when you arrive but either way, most tables give way to unobstructed views of the fireworks.  You can even venture outside onto the romantic floating dock for a more "up close" experience!  Music is piped in outside and in the dining room as well!

California Grill and Narcoossee's come neck to neck when it comes to my favorite Walt Disney World restaurants, so you can't go wrong with either choice!  If you do end up at Narcoossee's, I recommend the Surf and Turf with Filet Mignon and Lobster!  It's A+.

    Best (and tasty) Wishes,

    Amanda F.
