My husband, myself, my mother-in-law, my 8 year old daughter and my 5 year old daughter are planning our first trip to Disney. We are all about saving $$. What resort is best to stay in if we are sharing a room?

Based on the size of your party, and the fact that you are interested in an economical option, I would recommend a stay at Port Orleans Riverside.  This is the only moderate resort that will accommodate your party in one room, and only in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort.  These rooms are equipped with two double beds and a smaller-than-twin sized trundle that would best be suited for your five-year-old.  The double sinks in the vanity area of the bathroom are helpful when it comes to more than one person getting ready in the morning.  There is also a curtain between the vanity area and the rest of the room that can be pulled to create a private dressing space.

Port Orleans Riverside is my personal favorite moderate resort.  The grounds are gorgeous and serene.  During our stay there a stroll alongside the Sassagoula River delivered a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks.  We stayed in Lodge 18 and enjoyed the close proximity to the food court area and lobby.  Ol' Man Island, the main pool, was a bit further, bit still convenient to get to.  My husband and I spent a few evenings unwinding at the River Roost lounge.  We also walked to the French Quarter one morning for some of the infamous beignets and found those to be a tasty treat.  Of the three moderates I've stayed in, Port Orleans Riverside delivered the best overall experience and I highly recommend it!
