Me, husband and our 20 month old. We are staying at Pop, no dining plan, 5 park days, building a lightsaber planning to do one character breakfast, one nicer dinner with just my husband and going to MVMCP. Trip is paid for, budget for food/activities?

    Hi, there!

Welcome to planDisney, Samantha. We're delighted you stopped by! Your holiday visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is sure to be fa-la-la-la-fabulous. Let's chat about the details!

Budgeting for a Disney vacation can be challenging. Fortunately, the Walt Disney World Resort does disclose pricing for restaurants and activities, so spending some time exploring the website can help you approximate how much you'll need to budget for meals and additional plans. Visit the webpage for Savi's Workshop and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party for information on the pricing of those activities. Then, visit the pages for the restaurants you hope to enjoy. While you may not be able to pinpoint the exact pricing of each dining experience (just because you may not know this early what you plan to order), you'll get a good idea of the range of meal prices for each restaurant. Be sure to check out plenty of Quick-Service dining locations too. Generally speaking, quick-service meals are priced similarly, so taking a peek at a few different quick-service menus will help you plan for how much you'll spend on those meals that you're not planning reservations for. And of course, you'll want to budget for souvenirs! My family usually budgets $100 per person for souvenir shopping.

One important thing to note is that your little guy does not need an event ticket for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party since he's under the age of 3. Isn't that great? And if you book a Character Dining Experience that features an all-you-care-to-enjoy meal, your little guy can fill his belly at no charge (again, because he's under the age of 3). That helps with the budget, right?

My best budgeting tip is to purchase Disney Gift Cards while you're counting down the days to your arrival. You can use Disney Gift Cards practically everywhere at the Walt Disney World Resort! If you have a Target Circle Card, you can save 5% off your total purchase of Disney Gift Cards. And if you belong to a warehouse club like Costco or Sam's Club, you can usually buy Disney Gift Cards there at a discount too!

I hope this was helpful, Samantha. Please let us know if you have any other questions about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation! We'd love to help you plan a magical stay.
