Heather from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

My husband is a miltary veteran with 100 % disability. Besides the discounts on the tickets are there any other benefits inside the park? Parking, getting ahead in the lines? Just looking for more information. Thank you

    Hi Heather,

Thanks for visiting planDisney. On behalf of all of us here at planDisney, I would like to extend our gratitude to your husband and your family for your service and sacrifice.

I am excited to hear that you all will be making a trip to Disneyland soon. In the past, Disneyland Parks have offered discounted tickets and hotel stays. Before booking a trip, I always recommend visiting the Offers and Discounts page to see what new savings are just around the riverbend.

Before heading to the park, I recommend exploring Disneyland Resort’s resources and accommodations for those with disabilities. This can help you identify accommodations appropriate for your husband and your family. This includes things like transportation to listening devices. When you arrive at the park, you can also stop by the Accessibility Services Kiosk to get helpful resources on how to navigate the park in a more accessible way.

If your husband is using a wheelchair or ECV or would have difficulty navigating the queues for different rides, he could request a location return time. Select rides in the park offer this accommodation—you just need to speak to a Cast Member at the participating rides, and they can give you a time to return. If your husband has more extensive needs, you may want to consider Disability Access Services (DAS).

One thing I always recommend Veterans participate in is the daily Flag Retreat Ceremony. Every day, Disneyland recognizes veterans from the various branches of the military as the flag is lowered for the day at the Main Street Flag Pole. I often see veterans connecting with each other after the ceremony. It can be a great way to acknowledge your husband and his sacrifice. Check the Disneyland mobile app to see what time the ceremony will be taking place on the day of your visit.

Heather, I hope this information was helpful. Your vacation overlaps with the Food and Wine Festival (Feb. 28–April 21) at Disney California Adventure. Be sure to try all the tasty food and delicious beverages! If you have any other questions or need help planning, feel free to write back to me or one of my fellow panelists. We’d be happy to share our thoughts.

    Wishing you an amazing trip!
