My husband is in the military. we have the option to get the hopper pass for $138pp. Is there a way to still stay at an All Star Resort & get the meal plan w/out getting the park passes? has anyone stayed at Shades of Green, opinions going with 3yo?

The discounted military tickets offer a remarkable savings for eligible guests.  That said, the Disney Dining Plan is not available outside of a vacation package that includes resort accommodations and theme park admission.  I would venture to guess that, unless you plan on eating mostly character meals, you're probably better off scooping up those discounted park tickets and paying out of pocket for your meals.

We've stayed at Shades of Green multiple times (most recently in December of 2010).  It is a beautiful resort that features spacious rooms and proximity to the Magic Kingdom.  One of my favorite "perks" of a stay there is the availability of the Family Technology Center (sponsored by Raytheon).  It boasts Wii consoles, plasma TV's, X Box, computers, electronic darts, and more, all free of charge!

As for traveling with a 3 year-old, just be sure to carve out time for naps, snacks, and exploration and you should be fine!  Disney's baby care centers provide a great spot to rest and recharge or change a diaper, if you need it.

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
