Hi Jane, thanks for your question! You must be counting down the days before you can see your husband again. I am so happy for you!
You are correct, Disney does have a room discount available to military personnel. And they also have special priced tickets available as well. For those interested in reading more about these offers, you can visit
disneyworld.com/military. I have also heard that others booking these offers have been able to add the dining plan. You may want to check into that as well when you call to make your reservation.
As far as your question on the moderate resort, I have had the opportunity to stay at Port Orleans Riverside (POR) and Coronado Springs (CS). I thoroughly enjoyed them both. POR has such a relaxing feel to it and I love the fact that you can take a a relaxing boat ride to Downtown Disney. On the other hand, most, if not all the rooms at CS have been recently refurbished and they are beautiful. The moms on the panel stayed here for our training trip and we all agreed that the new rooms had a deluxe feel to them. I really don't think you can go wrong with either resort and honestly would have trouble choosing between the two...but I think I would give a slight edge to CS at this time due to the refurbished rooms. I was in building 9B and I thought it was a great location!
There are also three other moderate resorts I have not personally stayed in: Port Orleans French Quarter - a sister resort to POR, Caribbean Beach Resort (CBR) and the cabins at Fort Wilderness. If any of these interest you, you may want to direct a question to one of the other panelists. I know Whitney is an expert at Fort Wilderness and I believe Amber has experience with CBR.
I hope this helps...let us know if we can help you further! Diane :)
