My husband and I may be driving down for our cruise and we have a reservation on property before and after. We also paid for port transfer. Can we keep our car at our Disney resort during the cruise? If not, would we be able to refund port transfer?

Ahoy there, Jasmine! Welcome aboard the Disney Cruise Line side of planDisney!

Wow, you're just a few weeks away from your Disney Cruise Line vacation! How exciting! I'm sure you've been counting down the days on your Disney Cruise Line Navigator app - I love seeing the Disney emojis click by, and it's even better when that first number is a zero, haha.

I see you've taken the planDrew-approved approach of booking a stay at Walt Disney World Resort not only before your cruise but after, too! That's a great way to ease back into what my family calls "real life mode" once you disembark.

Now when it comes to parking for the duration of your cruise, unfortunately, the option to leave your car falls into the "once upon a time" category. I vaguely remember being able to do so years ago, but after sailing over to chat with a Cast Member, I was able to confirm that Guests can only park at a resort when they are actively staying there, so no parking during your Disney Cruise Line vacation.

Since that is the case, if you plan on making that big drive from the Great Lakes region to Central Florida, I'd suggest canceling your port transfer by contacting a crew member by email using the form on the Disney Cruise Line website. Since you're only a few weeks out you may also want to sail on over by phone as a backup plan! Once your cancellation is confirmed, you'll receive a refund to the original form of payment - so whether you paid via credit card, doubloons, or other treasure, you'll get it back in kind!

Hopefully, you've already done your Online Check-In and have made note of your Port Arrival Time! Now that you're likely driving to the port, it's important to remember that the drive from Walt Disney World Resort to Port Canaveral is roughly 90 mins, and can take a bit longer with traffic and tolls, so I always suggest building in a bit of a buffer so you still arrive on time! Parking is available adjacent to the terminal, so just be sure to follow the signs to the Disney Cruise Line terminal and you'll be on your way!

Oh, and one last thing, the Know Before You Go information has just been updated for cruises departing US and Canadian ports after September 2, 2022, so definitely review that to see if requirements for your crew have changed!

I hope that helps you set a course for this adventure, Jasmine! Thank you so much for your question, and if any others surface between now and your sail date, you can always send up a flare to me and the planDisney crew!

Fair winds, following seas, and safe travels!
