Hello, Christina! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Unlike when
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opened at
Disneyland Park in California, the
Disney’s Hollywood Studios version at
Walt Disney World Resort will not be using a reservation system to enter the land. While there are reservations available for
Oga’s Cantina,
Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers and the
Droid Depot, you won’t need to reserve a time to visit Galaxy’s Edge or ride
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run after they open (beginning Aug. 29). There will also not be
FastPass+ reservations available for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, so we’ll just have to wait and see what the standby queue's wait time will look like. Of course, the area (and the Theme Parks as a whole) are subject to limitations based on capacity, but we really won’t know what to expect until after it opens to the general public. I would definitely recommend following the
Disney Parks Blog after opening weekend to get a better feel for what you might expect when you visit in September.
If you’re staying at an official
Walt Disney World Resort hotel for your September vacation, though, you will have access to
extra, Extra Magic Hours each day of your visit. From Aug. 29 until Nov. 2, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be open an additional three hours (from 6-9 a.m. each day). As a Resort hotel Guest, that means you’ll have even more time and more opportunities to experience this unprecedented Theme Park expansion.
In addition to following the Disney Parks Blog, I would also recommend checking your
My Disney Experience mobile app to see wait times and additional information about potential closures, parking or transportation issues. I know that on particularly crowded days (such as July 4 and Christmas Day), you’ll see pop-up notifications in the mobile app alerting Guests to any information they may need to make their experience at the Theme Parks an enjoyable one--even on those busiest of days.
I do hope you get to experience the planet of Batuu when you visit next month, Christina. Make sure you pick up a complimentary “Happy Birthday” button when you arrive, too!
May the Force be with you,
Amy
