My husband and I have Magic Bands from 2021. We plan to visit the parks this year and want to use them for room keys, park entry, and getting memory maker photos. Will they still work? Or do we need magic band plus now? Thank you!

    Hi Miranda,

Welcome back to planDisney! I’m so glad you popped by with your question about MagicBands. My family loves how they make everything easy  - whether it’s tapping into the theme parks, unlocking our Disney Resort hotel room, making purchases with just a flick of the wrist, or linking Disney PhotoPass photos. My kids especially get a kick out of holding out their wrist for that little “Mickey tap!”.

The good news is that older MagicBands usually still work for the basics like park entry and Lightning Lane access. The only feature that depends on the internal battery is the long-range function (like certain attraction videos in your PhotoPass gallery). Even if that battery has run out, you can still use the band for all the essentials. For peace of mind, you can also set up a Disney MagicMobile pass in the My Disney Experience app. It works right from your phone or Apple Watch and even lets you choose from fun digital designs!

I hope this is helpful, Miranda. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to revisit planDisney!

    Cheers,
    Candace
