Hiya Kristin,
Welcome back to planDisney! We are so honored that you continue to visit us for help with your Disney planning questions! Wow, it sounds like you and your husband have quite a little tradition going. I wish I could get my Prince Charming to run a race with me, but it is definitely not his idea of fun. He will stuff his face with churros with me, so that’s something!
I’m sorry you weren’t able to get a spot in the
Disney Princess 5K on registration day. I’ve missed out on races before, and I know how disappointing that must be. Since runDisney has not implemented a waitlist for races, getting a spot is a little more challenging, but not impossible. I recommend setting a reminder and checking the website regularly. Sometimes new slots open up, and if you happen to be on the site at the right time, you can register for them before they sell out again. I’ve had quite a bit of luck with this before, but it takes a lot of perseverance. There are also unofficial groups that you can find via your preferred search engine, which will notify you of race alerts, including if spots open up, allowing you to save yourself the manual search. I’ve also signed up for these in the past and have been able to find success doing that as well.
I hope this was helpful, Kristin! Before I let you go, I have one last thing to recommend trying. The official charity for the Disney Princess Half Marathon often has spots available for runners who want to run on behalf of the charity and fundraise. This could be an excellent way for you and your husband to get bibs and also raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation (the celebrated charity). Please come back and see
us real soon, and good luck on getting a spot!
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
