Welcome to planDisney Kristen. You are visiting during one of my favorite months to visit. Let's figure out the best timing for this popular location.
Magic Kingdom Park is by far my favorite park and always the day I try and make sure I get the most done because there are so many great attractions and things to do surrounding it. The resorts that are close have legendary dining locations.
Trader Sam's Grog Grotto is a tropical tiki bar run by one of the residents of the
Jungle Cruise.
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is just a quick monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom so make sure you get there early. This location is just like the really popular similarly themed lounge,
Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace opens at 3 p.m., and neither takes reservations. The reason I love to visit in January is there usually are lower crowds than in a typical summer vacation month. So a mid-week visit would be the best time in my opinion to try and defeat crowds or long waits for a seat. Give yourself some travel time for walking down Main Street U.S.A to the monorail and the monorail ride.
While you visit the Magic Kingdom make sure to use your
My Disney Experience App in the morning to try and join the Virtual Queue for major thrills.
TRON Lightcycle / Run Presented by Enterprise is a new coaster for guests able to obtain a boarding pass. Starting at 7 a.m. users will want to try and get a group number to return for a chance to ride TRON. This coaster is fast and fierce with amazing turns and a queue that you will not soon forget. If you are not able to get a boarding pass at 7 a.m. you are in luck and can find another time at 1 p.m. but must be inside of the park for that request.
I hope your trip is magical and you get a sweet spot right where you are in the middle of a tropical rainstorm at Trader Sam's. If you need any other tips or tricks for you visit please do not hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.com.
Have a magical day,
Jeremy A.
