My husband and I are looking to take our two boys (9 & 7) for the first time. I am on a budget so I was wondering when is the best time to go, also I was wondering when the meal plan is offered for free?

Hello, Candice! Thank you so much for stopping by with your question! My boys are 7-years old and 10-years old and I can honestly tell you, there is no better place to hang with my guys than Walt Disney World! I think EVERY age is the ‘perfect age’ to visit, as there is truly something for EVERYONE. What I am enjoying now that the boys are older is being able to hit the parks early and stay out late. We also have so much fun riding the ‘big kid’ rides and I can take them to the nicer restaurants without worry. At an age where it may not be 'cool' for them to act like a kid - I get my little boys back for a week because we all are acting like kids! You are all going to have the time of your lives.

Our favorite time of year to visit Walt Disney World is the last week of January. The crowds are minimal, the pricing is typically lower than in the summer or around the Holidays, and it isn’t so hot for me. Our second favorite time of the year is the last week of September. The crowds are about the same as January and the pricing is still low. It is warm enough so your boys can enjoy the pools and Water Parks, but isn’t normally overwhelmingly hot. You can also catch Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on select nights.

Deals and specials are announced a few months ahead of time. To check on Free Dining or any other deals – visit the Special Offers section on the Walt Disney World website. These deals are never a guarantee to be the same from year to year or follow the exact dates. When planning for my family, I always keep an eye on that page.

I wish you and your family the most magical of times, Candice! Happy planning!

Meet the Panelist: Rachel, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
