My husband & I will be joining another family for a dinner reservation. Our vacations were booked separately. They have the DDP & we don’t. Will the waitstaff do a separate check for us to pay using a credit card?

Hi there, Lori, and welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you have quite the fun night with friends ahead. I have had so many epic Disney dinners with family and friends and they are usually the highlights of my vacations. Like most things at Walt Disney World, there is a lot of flexibility. Let’s chat about how you will be just fine splitting the check during your visit.

The Cast Member at your table-service reservation will most likely ask you at the beginning of the meal if anyone is using the Disney Dining Plan. That is a great moment to explain that one family is and the other will need a separate check. If they don’t mention it, still be sure to let them know.

Now, of course, you won’t be able to use the other family’s dining plan credits. But you are welcome to pay separately using your own accepted method of payment like a credit card at the end of the meal.

Lori, please let us know here at planDisney if you have additional questions about your Disney vacation. We are more than happy to share our tips and tricks with you.

    Magic always,
