My husband and I are interested in staying at the Grand Flordian, but we're not sure it's the best choice with our kids, ages 5 and 11. Which deluxe resorts are most kid friendly? We plan to visit all parks, but will visit MK and HS at least 2 days each.

    Hi Melissa!

As grand as the Grand Floridian may be ... it's not necessarily the most 'kid-friendly.' If you asked either of my kids, who have stayed at 9 different Disney resorts, they would both choose one of two resorts, without question.

Their top pick would be the Polynesian Resort. It's just two monorail stops or a boat ride from the Magic Kingdom. Dining options at this resort are fabulous. With everything from the infamous Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, character breakfast at 'Ohana, incredible family-style dinner at 'Ohana and an entertaining dinner show at Spirit of Aloha to name a few, your options are endless. The volcano-themed pool and waterslide complete with underwater music and waterfall is amazing. The on-site Never Land Club is an amazing place to check the kids in for an evening of fun while the adults enjoy a 'date night.' Watch the fireworks & Electrical Water Pageant from the beach. Just a short walk to the Transportation and Ticket Center and you're on your way to Epcot! Downtown Disney, Water Parks, Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are accessed by bus.

Another popular choice for many kids would be Disney's Beach Club Resort. Located between Epcot & Hollywood Studios, both parks can be accessed by boat or a short walk. To get to Magic Kingdom is a short bus ride. Dining options again are plentiful with character dining on site for breakfast and additional options at the adjacent Yacht Club Resort and Boardwalk area. The Beach Club's recreation is second to none. The amazing Stormalong Bay feature pool includes a water slide, sand bottom pool & lazy river. There's an ice cream parlor on site and even movies played outdoors on the beach at night.

With children the ages of yours, these would be my two top suggestions for kid-friendly amenities and location.

Wishing you a simply Magical time as you plan for your family's amazing Walt Disney World vacation Melissa!
