Hi! My husband and I are going on our first ever Disney Cruise to Alaska! Please explain to me the port excursions! How do I know what time they take place? And can I book more than one (if they are relatively shorter) in one port of call? Thank you!

Greetings, Diana! Thank you for sailing by planDisney for some planning help! My family is also sailing to Alaska this summer, and we just picked our Port Adventures. I’m happy to help a fellow traveler conquer the “last frontier.”

I can’t wait for you to experience the beauty of Alaska! There is something so magical about seeing whales swim and flip their tails in their natural environment or stand on a glacier, marveling at all the different colors of blue. Disney Port Adventures take all the guesswork out of planning your days in unfamiliar places – transportation, admissions fees, and a local guide are all included. Your guide will expertly navigate you away from the crowds, so you’ll have more time to enjoy the beauty around you.

My top Alaskan Port Adventures include whale watching, glacier hiking, and nature experiences. You can see the Port Adventures offered during your ports of call on the Disney Cruise Line website. I find it easier to plan if I filter by the port so that I’m only seeing the activities offered for one port at a time. You can also filter by experience type, activity level, accessibility, and price range.

Diana, you can absolutely book more than one Port Adventure a day. You can’t see the times until your booking window opens, but I have a few hints to help you determine if you can schedule more than one activity. Most Port Adventures start in the morning. If the duration is listed as five or more hours, you’ll probably only have time for one excursion. If you see a Port Adventure that is only a couple of hours long, many times there are morning and afternoon times available. In my case, we have a two-hour whale-watching cruise in the morning and another excursion riding a forest tram in the afternoon. As a first-time cruiser, you can reserve Port Adventures 75 days before your sail date.

On your glacier viewing day, spend some time on deck, even if you have a verandah. I like to pick up a hot chocolate and have a Disney photographer take our picture with the glacier in the background. You might even see Captains Mickey and Minnie taking in the amazing view. Please stop by and ask if there is anything else we can help you with as your cruise approaches. I know you’re going to make unforgettable memories aboard the Disney Wonder!

    SEAS the adventure!

Ahoy! Just like Moana, I feel the irresistible call of the sea. I think the best vacation is aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship – thankfully, my family agrees. Whether savoring gelato in Italy, snorkeling in Mexico, or basking in the sea breeze on deck, each destination fills us with memories to last a lifetime. I look forward to helping your family plan a Disney Cruise Line adventure brimming with cherished moments!
