My husband and I will be at Disneyworld between 12/8-14, 2021. We already have room reservations and tickets. I need to know what special events will be taking place during those dates so we can avoid large crowds and having to leave parks early.

Hi there, Lilia! Welcome back to planDisney! I'm so glad you stopped by to see us again. We're always excited to have a visit from friends we haven't seen in a while!

What a special holiday vacation you and your husband have planned this year. I absolutely adore going to the Walt Disney World Resort when the Christmas music is playing, the lights are twinkling, and holiday treats abound. The whole place just glows during the season, and I never, ever miss it!

There are a few events happening in the theme parks during the Christmas season. One is Disney Very Merriest After Hours, which takes place on select nights between November 8 and December 21, 2021, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Magic Kingdom Park. That's a general range for the event, but we don't yet have the exact dates that it will be scheduled. Disney has said that tickets will go on sale next month, so I expect we'll have those details soon. In addition, EPCOT will be hosting the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, while Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom Park will also offer some special treats and entertainment. I think the After Hours event at the Magic Kingdom Park is the only one that could affect your touring schedule.

Lilia, if you'd really like an extra dose of holiday spirit, I encourage you to consider buying tickets to Disney Very Merriest After Hours. They're planning for lower crowds at this event, so you'll have a chance to ride some attractions with little to no wait. You'll also get complimentary snacks and sodas, in addition to a viewing of Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Show. It really sounds like a festive and fun event!

There's a super helpful calendar on the Walt Disney World website that can be a great resource to see what's happening around the Walt Disney World Resort during your vacation. You'll see park hours, parades, fireworks spectaculars and any events that are planned for each day. It hasn't been filled out quite that far in advance yet, but as you get closer to your arrival date, you'll see everything that's going on so you can make your own plans.

I hope this helps you have a magical holiday at Walt Disney World, Lilia. It was wonderful chatting with you today, and I hope you'll come see us again real soon!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

    Kathy K.

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
