My husband and I are going to Disney World next week for my birthday. We are staying at the Animation hotel and planning 2 days at the parks. I know the early half hour admission hasn't started, but any tidbits for getting around or things to do?

Hi, Jennifer! A very happy birthday from your planDisney pals! We don't want to be late for this very important date, so let's get to planning your special celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort!

You've picked a perfect Resort hotel for your birthday trip, Jennifer. I love Disney's Art of Animation Resort, with its colorful theming and nods to the best of Disney animation. You'll definitely want to spend some time exploring all of the courtyards in the different sections of the Resort hotel. My favorite is the Cars courtyard, which is complete with oversized figures of Lightning and the gang. It makes for some memorable photos!

One of the best parts of making Disney's Art of Animation Resort your home away from home is that you're just steps from the Disney Skyliner, giving you quick and easy access to two of the most popular Theme Parks in Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Just hop aboard and fly! And here's a planDisney tip for Disney's Hollywood Studios: You can join a boarding group for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance by firing up your My Disney Experience app before you even leave your Resort hotel room! The first boarding groups are assigned promptly at 7 a.m., so be sure you hop on a few minutes before that and find the "Join a Boarding Group" button on your app. Just note that you'll need a Disney Park Pass reservation for Disney's Hollywood Studios for that day.

You're also just a gondola flight away from my favorite place to spend my birthday, EPCOT! And you'll be there during the Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, where you can pose for a fun photo op, try some culinary creations at the many food kiosks around the Park, and maybe treat yourself to a beautiful work of art to commemorate your special day for years to come. And of course, you'll want a delectable birthday dinner from one of the top-notch EPCOT restaurants!

Back at your Resort hotel, take a stroll across the bridge to Disney's Pop Century Resort and head inside to the Everything POP food court for a tie-dye cheesecake. It comes in a little cup so it's perfectly portable. You can take it back to your room for a late-night birthday sweet treat.

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
