Hello, My husband and I have never been to Disney and wanted to celebrate my almost 2-year old daughters birthday there. I wanted to know more about the character meals and how to plan a little party for her given that it’s just us three

It's a small world after all, Puja, and I’m so glad you found your way to planDisney!

I am SO excited for your family’s first visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! And for such a special occasion, too! I’ll never forget the first time my children visited the Disneyland Resort… the look of awe is something that will stay with me forever, and is the reason we keep going back for more!

To start your day, I recommend heading to City Hall (in Disneyland Park) or Guest Services (in Disney California Adventure Park) depending on where you'll begin. There, you can pick up complimentary celebration buttons for each member of your family to commemorate this special day. Sometimes a Cast Member can personalize them for you, or there may be a marker provided so you can do it yourself. When you wear these buttons, Cast Members and Characters make an extra effort to recognize your celebration, and wish you a happy birthday or happy first visit to the Disneyland Resort! We’ve even had special sweet treats brought our way at dining locations when wearing our buttons, so you never know what magic will come your way!

Speaking of dining, let’s talk Character Dining! There are several options for Character Dining at the Disneyland Resort, including one located inside the parks, and three located inside the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. My favorite Character Dining experience can be found at Plaza Inn in Disneyland Park, and it’s called Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park. Not only is the breakfast buffet delicious, but the atmosphere is perfect for your special party! Currently, the Characters aren’t able to stop for autographs or pose at each table, but you can still get some great shots of them parading by your table. Plus, there’s a wonderful photo opportunity with Minnie Mouse after checking in for your reservation! A Disney PhotoPass photographer will be on hand to snap your family’s picture, and the photo download is included in the cost of your breakfast. You'll need to have a park reservation for Disneyland Park in order to attend this breakfast, plus a dining reservation is highly recommended.

When your little one is needing a break from all the celebrating, I recommend heading to one of the Baby Care Centers. These centers are the perfect spot to change a diaper or purchase any items you may have forgotten.

Here's the Entertainment Schedule for February 3, so you can start mapping out your magical day. Keep in mind that Disneyland Park will be closing at 7:00 PM for a special ticketed event. I recommend ending your day by watching Mickey’s Mix Magic with Projections on Main Street, U.S.A.! Your daughter will love the catchy songs and bright projections all around her!

Wishing you a pixie-dusted day you’ll never forget, Puja!
