My husband and I are going to Disney in 2013. Trying to decide where to stay. We are looking at the Contemporary or Polynesian Resort. Any suggestions. We will be celebrating our annivesary.

    Hello, Regina,

This is a mighty tough question!  Let me see if I can point out a few pros and cons for each of the resorts to help you make a decision. I won't point out qualities they both share like easy access to resort monorail, large rooms, etc.

Contemporary Pros: can walk to Magic Kingdom, essentially one building which is nice if weather is poor, modern design, views from the tower rooms are nice, has a jacuzzi, rooms have a balcony or patio

Contemporary Cons:  confusing layout to resort with main floor on the 4th floor (lots of escalator and elevator riding), often seen as the least Disney-ish resort, convention center on location so likelihood of convention crowd, little counter space in bathrooms

Polynesian Pros:  beautiful gardens, easy to walk to Ticket and Transportation Center to catch direct monorail to Epcot, romantic torch lit paths at night and hammocks on the beach

Polynesian Cons: separate buildings are challenging in poor weather, may not have balcony, no jacuzzi, decor can feel a bit old/kitschy, could possibly have a parking lot view & noise from nearby speedway or dinner show.

We have stayed at both resorts multiple times, and I do truly like both of them.  It may come down to which decor you like best. Another way to think of it is do you like Tomorrowland (Contemporary) or Adventureland (Polynesian) better at the Magic Kingdom?

If you have more questions about the resorts, I'm happy to help.  Wishing you an early happy anniversary!
