Hello! My husband & I are discussing taking our 2 boys to Disney this year. My husband is the type to just want to "wing it" each day. Do you recommend "winging it" for first timers?

Congratulations on planning your first Walt Disney World (WDW) vacation!

Your family is going to have an amazing visit! My personal recommendation is that it's best to do at least some amount of planning for visiting WDW, not only for your first time, but for any time you visit.

With My Disney Experience you can plan every detail, from booking your FastPasses in advance, making all of your dining reservations and booking your Magic Your Way tickets and resort stay.

I think that you and your husband can find a happy medium for the planning. You don't have to plan every detail and you can allow some open space for him to feel as if he is not tied down to particular details, but at the very least you should plan which park you plan to visit each day and take advantage of booking your FastPasses in advance. This will ensure that you can get on the attractions that typically have the longest waits, such as Toy Story Mania, Rock n Roller Coaster or Test Track.

I also highly recommend booking Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) 180 days in advance to ensure you can dine at your preferred restaurants. Disney dining experiences book fast, so if your boys would like to dine with Mickey and Pals or if you want to book a Fantasmic! Dinner Package, it's best to book in advance.
